The Need to Cultivate Young Collectors To Keep the Antique Market Alive, Latest WorthPoint Article

I love the comments that are coming in on WorthPoint.com on this particular article. I just goes to show that many people are reluctant to change and that is why antique shops are closing left and right.

Enjoy and as usual I welcome your comments.

I agree there is no interest in the antiques trade at all with younger generation such as myself

you shouldnt only look at the money you can make in antiques but antiques are also a major part of history as each piece has an amazing story to tell

This is one of my favorite articles on Worth Point. I agree with Michelle Staley when she describes the importance of making her inventory attractive to the Twentysomething consumer. My interest in antiques and vintage items began with an old book that I found at a flea market. I have always had a love for books but realizing that there is a world of vintage and antique books that are just waiting to be found has really sparked interest in me.

I'm one of those youngsters and I love antiques! I've been picking since I was 9 years old. I will make art out of things or just keep it as is with it's character. See what I'm talking about at: www.redsdesignsandfinds.blogspot.com/

I am finding that there is a new appreciation for antiques due to the increased number of antique shows and the popularity of pinterest.

There is a huge audience of young antique fans and collectors. There is evidence of that on etsy.com. Visit my shop:

then shop around. Just about everything you could ever need, you can find on etsy. For handmade and vintage items.

To save you time, shortlist your search for an antique shop that has been established for a minimum of twenty years. These businesses will best understand the direction the antiques trade has taken in the over this period and will be realistic in their pricing. Box House Antiques
